Niamh Hourigan
About me
My name is Niamh Hourigan. I want to represent you in the European Parliament and I am looking for your Number One Vote on June 7th.
I have three campaign priorities:
- to implement a European plan for affordable housing,
- to secure a just transition for farmers,
- and to protect and safeguard Irish neutrality.
As a sociologist, I have spent over twenty years looking at problems. Now I want to implement solutions. Ireland currently has no representative in the Socialists and Democrats, the second largest group in the European parliament to which the Labour party are aligned. We need MEPs who will put your issues at the heart of Europe.
Please help me be the Labour voice in Europe by giving me your Number One Vote on June 7th.
My background
I am a mother of two from Limerick city. I have worked in Higher Education for twenty-five years (UCC, UL, Mary Immaculate College). As Sociologist, my research has focused on crime, education, and fundamental values in politics. As a graduate student, I worked in local radio and have continued to contribute to the media drawing attention to issues of social inequality.
